The January 2028 schedule lists 49 cruises from Galveston across nine ships and five cruise lines. Carnival Cruise Line provides 21 departures, Royal Caribbean 12, Disney Cruise Line six, and MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line five each.
Cruises out of Galveston in January 2028 range from 4 to 14 days. Most follow recurring Mexico and Western Caribbean patterns, but five longer Carnival itineraries add Panama Canal, Eastern Caribbean, and Southern Caribbean choices that do not fit the month’s dominant route structure.
Royal Caribbean divides its 12 departures between Liberty of the Seas and Icon of the Seas. Liberty operates three 4-day Cozumel cruises and four 5-day routes to Costa Maya and Cozumel. Icon has five 7-day departures, each visiting Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.
MSC Cruises offers five 7-day MSC Seascape sailings on January 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Like Icon, Seascape visits Costa Maya, Roatan, and Cozumel, but it calls at Costa Maya before Roatan. Both ships depart on the same five Sundays, allowing a direct comparison of ship and port order for the same travel week.
Norwegian Cruise Line has five Saturday departures on Norwegian Escape: January 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Its 7-day route visits Cozumel, Roatan, Harvest Caye, and Costa Maya. Harvest Caye and the fourth port call distinguish these itineraries from the three-port MSC and Icon routes.
Disney Cruise Line supplies six Disney Magic sailings. Two 4-day cruises visit Progreso, three 5-day cruises combine Progreso and Cozumel, and the January 21 departure spends seven days visiting Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay. Disney therefore offers both short Mexico trips and a separate Bahamas choice.
Carnival Cruise Line has 21 departures across Carnival Horizon, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Jubilee, and Carnival Breeze. Its range extends from 4-day Cozumel cruises to the month’s only 12- and 14-day itineraries. Jubilee adds two 8-day Bahamas dates, while Sunshine operates all three 10-day departures.
Nine 4-day cruises and twelve 5-day cruises form the short-cruise group. These sailings concentrate on Cozumel, Progreso, and Costa Maya, with Carnival Horizon, Carnival Sunshine, Liberty of the Seas, and Disney Magic supplying the dates.
Eighteen 7-day cruises operate on Carnival Breeze, Disney Magic, Icon of the Seas, MSC Seascape, and Norwegian Escape. Three 6-day Carnival Jubilee cruises and two 8-day Bahamas itineraries sit between the main duration groups. The remaining five departures last 10, 12, or 14 days.
Forty-two departures are primarily classified as Western Caribbean cruises. Cozumel appears on 41 sailings, Roatan on 21, Costa Maya on 19, and Progreso on 10. Harvest Caye appears on all five Norwegian Escape departures, while Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, and Belize City distinguish selected Carnival routes.
The seven departures outside the main regional group comprise three Bahamas cruises, two Southern Caribbean cruises, one Eastern Caribbean cruise, and one Panama Canal cruise. These are not interchangeable alternatives: their lengths range from 7 to 14 days and their port lists extend well beyond the regular Mexico and western Caribbean pattern.
Carnival supplies all five cruises lasting 10 days or more. The Bahamas alternatives use shorter 7- and 8-day itineraries.
The 10-day schedule begins January 3 with a Panama Canal itinerary calling at Cozumel, Puerto Limón, Colón, and Roatan. The January 17 route remains in the Western Caribbean and calls at Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Roatan, Belize City, and Cozumel. The January 31 departure is classified as Eastern Caribbean and visits Celebration Key, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove.
Carnival Breeze departs January 3 on the month’s only 12-day cruise. Its port sequence includes Grand Cayman, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, and Montego Bay. This is the only January route that combines all three ABC islands.
The January 29 14-day Carnival Breeze cruise visits Ocho Rios, St. Croix, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, San Juan, and Amber Cove. It carries the Carnival Journeys tag and is the longest itinerary in the month. The Carnival Journeys cruises from Galveston page explains that program; this page keeps the focus on its January 2028 date and route.
Carnival Jubilee has two 8-day Bahamas departures. The January 8 sailing visits Nassau, Half Moon Cay, and Celebration Key; January 22 visits the same ports in reverse order. Disney Magic departs January 21 on a 7-day Bahamas itinerary calling at Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay, returning January 28. The Carnival and Disney routes therefore differ in both duration and destinations.
Only two departures carry the New Year tag: a 5-day Carnival Horizon cruise and a 7-day Norwegian Escape sailing, both leaving January 1. The New Year cruises from Galveston page covers the wider holiday window, while the January schedule shows that the database tag does not extend across the rest of the month.
Disney cruises from Galveston continue with six Disney Magic departures: two 4-day Progreso cruises, three 5-day Mexico itineraries, and one 7-day Bahamas sailing. None carries the Very Merrytime tag, which separates this January deployment from the preceding December schedule.
January falls within the broader winter cruise season from Galveston, but weather can differ substantially between the upper Texas coast and the southern or eastern ports on the longest routes. Use the January Caribbean cruise weather guide for regional climate context, then check current forecasts and cruise-line notices near departure.
