Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean is known for large, activity-filled ships that bring recreation and family entertainment into everyday life on board. Surf simulators, climbing walls, waterslides and elaborate shows are part of that identity, with a different combination of features on each ship.

For a Galveston cruise, compare the ship's actual attractions, dining and youth facilities rather than choosing by size alone. Included meals and regular entertainment provide a starting point; specialty restaurants, selected activities and other optional services can add to the cost.
An Active Approach to Life on Board
Royal Caribbean puts recreation near the center of the cruise experience. Its large, activity-filled ships are a recognizable part of the line's identity, with attractions that can turn a day on board into a mix of swimming, sports and trying something new. Families can share those activities while children, teens and adults also have choices of their own.
The ship matters as much as the brand. Depending on the vessel, you might find a FlowRider surf simulator, rock-climbing wall, waterslides, mini golf or other recreation spaces. These are examples across the line, not a checklist for every ship. Compare the facilities you would use, including their participation requirements, before choosing.
Dinner Can Follow a Routine or Stay Flexible
Complimentary dining includes served meals in the Main Dining Room and the Windjammer buffet. Other casual options vary by ship. You can build meals around those included venues without purchasing a specialty dining package.
For Main Dining Room dinner, traditional dining provides an assigned seating and table. My Time Dining offers more flexibility within dinner hours, subject to availability; reservations are strongly recommended. It does not guarantee immediate seating or the same table and waiter each evening. Choose the arrangement that fits how your group wants to eat.
Specialty restaurants are additional purchases unless covered by your booking benefits or a dining package. Their menus, locations and reservation arrangements differ by ship. Consider whether a particular restaurant matters to you before paying for a package simply because the ship has several dining venues.
What the Fare Covers and What Costs Extra
The fare covers your stateroom, complimentary dining, regular entertainment and access to pools and the fitness center. Many recreation activities are included, but individual attractions can have their own charges, reservation rules and participation limits. A facility appearing on the deck plan does not establish that every session or service is free.
Ice water, brewed coffee, tea and selected other drinks are available in complimentary dining venues. Alcohol, soda, specialty coffee and bottled water generally cost extra, as do internet access, spa treatments, arcade play and excursions. Booking benefits and purchased packages can change what you pay separately; check their actual coverage.
Budget for service gratuities unless they are already included or prepaid. Your booking confirmation and the terms for optional purchases explain how those charges are handled.
Family Time, Youth Programs and Adult Spaces
Adventure Ocean provides supervised activities for children ages 3–12, while teens ages 13–17 have their own social spaces and hosted activities. Regular youth programming is complimentary. Adventure Ocean requires children to be fully toilet-trained; review the chosen ship's registration and operating arrangements before planning around drop-off care.
Royal Babies & Tots Nursery serves children ages 6–36 months on select ships for an additional fee. Late-night youth care can also carry a charge. Neither the regular clubs nor the nursery should be treated as continuous childcare, and facilities differ among ships.
Adults can use the gym, listen to live music or spend time in the lounges. Where offered, the Solarium provides a quieter retreat for guests ages 18 and older; its layout and facilities vary. Spa services and specialty meals offer further choices at additional cost. Royal Caribbean combines these adult options with its family activities.
Match the Ship to Your Days and Evenings
Evenings can include theater productions, live music, comedy or organized social events. Some ships add ice shows or AquaTheater performances. The entertainment lineup and venues are ship-specific, so do not assume an advertised production is available throughout the line.
