Celebration Key is Carnival's private cruise destination on the southern coast of Grand Bahama. The ship docks at its pier, so the visit begins at the destination itself. Beaches and freshwater lagoons are the main attractions, with family areas, an adult-friendly lagoon, a separately booked beach club and a Bahamian marketplace.
The pier leads to Paradise Plaza, the welcome area where you can get your bearings before heading farther into the destination. Bring a beach towel from the ship and the cards or identification specified in your arrival instructions. Walking is an option between the main areas; complimentary trams provide another way to get around once ashore.
The map shows separate Starfish and Calypso tram loops, connecting their respective lagoon areas with Lokono Cove. Use the route that serves your chosen area rather than assuming every tram makes the same circuit. Carnival also lists accessible trams and beach wheelchairs; discuss your mobility needs with Guest Services, since wheelchairs are supplied on a first-come basis and transport access does not settle access across sand or into water.
Celebration Key cruises from Galveston fit within the Bahamas cruise guide, the destination's country and regional parent. The cruise schedule shows the complete routes from Galveston, Texas, so you can choose a cruise before deciding how much of this shore day to spend at the beach.
Starfish Lagoon brings the family beach, freshwater swimming, Guppy Grotto splash pad and sports courts into the same part of the destination. That makes it a useful base when some people want sand and others prefer the lagoon or a game. You can spend the visit in the included areas without purchasing a cabana or an excursion.
The splash pad and shallow pool give younger children their own water-play option. They are different from the Suncastle racing slides, which have separate access charges and participation rules. A lagoon day does not require adding a slide pass.
Calypso is adult-friendly, with beach and lagoon space, sports courts, bars and music around DJ Island. The atmosphere can be lively; choosing this portal does not guarantee a quiet retreat. The portal as a whole is not adults-only. Follow the posted boundaries for its age-restricted sections, especially when traveling with younger children.
For a specifically adults-only experience, consider Pearl Cove's separate admission. Otherwise, pick ordinary beach or lagoon seating according to the surroundings you enjoy. Chairs and umbrellas in the general areas are complimentary, and you can move between sand and freshwater swimming without building a paid itinerary around either.
Island Eats provides one complimentary meal per guest from eligible selections at participating fast-casual venues. Captain's Galley Food Hall, selected food trucks and snack or beach shacks offer walk-up choices. Look for the Island Eats designation on the menu; the benefit does not cover every item or every venue.
The program also offers an alternative discount on an eligible full-service entrée. A sit-down meal at a restaurant such as Mingo's or Gill's Grill is a different purchase from redeeming the included walk-up meal. Review the applicable offer before ordering, and leave room in your budget for additional food. Pearl Cove dining follows its own package terms.
A quick meal near your base keeps more of the visit open for swimming or activities. A full-service lunch gives food a larger role in the day and needs time at the table. Guests with dietary requirements should speak with ship staff before disembarking about their options.
Carnival's onboard beverage packages do not extend to Celebration Key. Drinks ashore have their own charges or a specifically purchased beach-club inclusion. Carrying an onboard package into the day should not be the basis of your food-and-drink budget.
Pearl Cove is reserved for guests eighteen and older and requires a separately purchased access package. Its private beach, infinity pool and poolside or beachside service are the reasons to choose it. Admission, open-bar and all-inclusive options have different food and drink entitlements, so select the package by its actual inclusions rather than by the club name alone.
General Calypso beach and lagoon space is the alternative when you want an adult-friendly setting without beach-club admission. A Pearl Cove booking makes more sense when you intend to use that private area for a substantial part of the visit instead of spending most of the day on an off-site tour.
Flash Flamingo and Mach III Marlin are the Suncastle racing slides. Access costs extra, and riders must meet the height, weight and other participation rules. Review the offered pass and any rental bundle: Carnival distinguishes cabana and supervilla slide inclusions from daybeds, which do not include slide access.
Daybeds, cabanas, villas and equipment rentals change the beach or lagoon experience in different ways. Locate the rental on the map and establish its capacity, check-in point and included amenities. A private seating reservation is useful if your group will stay together there; ordinary loungers, sports courts and the included water areas may already suit a more mobile day.
Lokono Cove is the shopping and artisan area, with Bahamian crafts and local goods to browse between beach time and lunch. It adds an experience within Celebration Key without requiring an off-site transfer. Purchases cost extra, and payment arrangements can differ from those at food venues, so bring an appropriate payment option for the shops you plan to visit.
Music and Junkanoo entertainment can also form part of the day. The Carnival HUB app provides the program and updates; fit a particular performance around its actual time rather than expecting continuous entertainment wherever you settle.
The Sail, Snorkel & Party to Peterson's Cay excursion combines a catamaran journey with reef snorkeling and a social atmosphere aboard. The sailing and return are part of the total outing, so compare them with the time devoted to swimming. The listed inclusions cover snorkel equipment, a life jacket, light snacks and onboard drinks; a snack is not a full lunch.
Carnival rates the activity moderate, but snorkeling requires open-ocean swimming and independently using a stepladder to enter and leave the water. The tour excludes guests using mobility devices and has additional age, weight and health restrictions. Read those requirements before reserving. Conditions can change the snorkeling or anchoring location, and the advertised outing is not guaranteed on every call.
Staying at Celebration Key's beach, lagoons or marketplace avoids the boat journey. If the reef experience is your priority, use the excursion ticket's meeting instructions: land-based and water-based departures have different locations. Celebration Key is not the same place as Freeport's cruise port, and an excursion into Grand Bahama needs its own transfer plan.
Before leaving your beach or lagoon base, hand back rentals, collect belongings and account for everyone in your group. A tram can help with the onshore journey, but its waiting time still belongs in the return plan. Paradise Plaza is the entrance area; the pier crossing and gangway remain ahead of you.
Use the ship's all-aboard instructions to decide when to finish activities. An off-site excursion has a meeting point and return arrangement of its own, while an independent visit requires you to manage the journey back. Keep that distinction clear when adding anything beyond the destination.
If your route also calls at Half Moon Cay, give each visit its own plan. Celebration Key's lagoon portals, Island Eats choices and paid beach club create a different day from Half Moon Cay's beach-focused setting. Choose the experiences you want at each rather than buying the same sort of upgrade twice by habit.
